Osuigwe taken away in ambulance after cramping in match

Whitney Osuigwe was forced to retire toward the end of her first-round match at the ITF Pro Circuit event in Charlottesville due to severe cramps.

Trailing 4-0 in the deciding set against Arianne Hartone, Osuigwe was taken away in an ambulance.

“I’m ok but god knows I’ve had better days,” she wrote on her Instagram story.

Champion at the event in 2019, Osuigwe has struggled this season, having lost all her main-draw matches. The 19-year-old is currently ranked No. 184.
