Poland's Hubert Hurkacz is once again thriving beneath the Florida sun. In his first event of the 2021 season, he defeated American Sebastian Korda in convincing fashion in Delray Beach, and now he's into his first quarterfinal at the Miami Open.

After taking out No. 6 seed Denis Shapovalov in straight sets, Hurkacz followed it up by edging past Milos Raonic, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4), to book a spot in the last eight. The run marks his second career Masters 1000 quarterfinal, and the Pole, ranked world No. 37, is undefeated in the state of Florida this year.

The last time Hurkacz reached the last eight on this level was back in 2019 at Indian Wells, where he fell, 6-4, 6-4, to 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.

Needless to say, the 24-year-old is happy to be back at this stage.

"It's great. I haven't been there for a long period of time, so obviously pumped to play another match here in Miami. Just trying my best," Hurkacz told the media in his post-match press conference.

Hurkacz will next face either Lorenzo Sonego or Stefanos Tsitsipas for spot in the semifinals.
