“McEnroe” averaged 174,000 viewers in its first week on the air, but viewership declined, and dropped below 40,000 viewers during one week, earning a 0.0 Nielsen rating.

According to a New York Times article, McEnroe said that it had taken him a while to settle in to the role of host, but that he believed the show was improving, despite the ratings. Unfortunately the show was cancelled, but McEnroe was given the option of ending production immediately, or allowing the show to go for two more weeks. McEnroe decided to complete the remaining two weeks in order to give the crew more work.
