Garbine Muguruza finished off a strong start to the season with her first WTA title in two years, winning the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships title.
The Spaniard, who reached the final of this year's Australian Open and Doha, has been one of the most consistent players on tour. Clearly, Muguruza was more than happy to have beaten the surprise finalist Barbora Krejcikova.
The last time Muguruza won a title was in 2019 when she took home the Monterrey trophy. This was also the third time the 27-year-old reached the Dubai title, but could never quite make the leap to winning until now.
Muguruza jumps on ranking spot to world No. 13. Her career-high is world No. 1 which she earned in October 2017.
