Alexander Zverev Fires Back!

Although the German gave the world No. 1 a difficult time and even saved match point, he would fall, 7-6 (3), 2-6, 5-7, to Team Serbia's Novak Djokovic. The fight was far from over, however, as Zverev came back on the doubles court alongside Jan-Lennard Struff. The two would slip past Djokovic and Nikola Cacic, 7-6(4), 5-7, 10-7 to clinch the win for Germany and advance to the ATP Cup's semifinals.

Stan the Man Advances

The world No. 18 came out strong by taking the first set, but found himself down 3-5 in a decider and on the brink of losing his first match of the year to Alex Bolt. The 35-year-old turned the tables once again and ultimately claimed the match, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(5) to advance into the Murray River Open quarterfinals.

Later, though, he would withdraw from his scheduled quarterfinal clash with France's Jeremy Chardy.

Simona Halep Falls

The Romanian hasn't competed in a WTA event since last October at the rescheduled Roland Garros, and it appeared she was feeling lower back pain during her quarterfinal bout against Ekaterina Alexandrova. The world No. 33 surged past the Gippsland Trophy No. 1 seed, 6-2, 6-1, to take a 2-1 lead in their head-to-head record.
