With all of Melbourne's matches canceled on Thursday in light of an unexpected COVID-19 case, players were forced to adjust their plans. For 160 of them, it meant a day of testing and subsequent isolation as a result of staying at the Grand Hyatt during their latest quarantine.

The person testing positive was a hotel worker, who developed symptoms after the quarantine period ended. Players, coaches and staff were deemed "casual' contacts and will be permitted to get back to tennis activities after producing a negative test.
