Baseline is looking ahead to the new year by showcasing 21 players under 21 to watch out for in '21. To make the coveted list, players must be born in 2000 or later.

Dayana Yastremska broke out in a big way during the 2019 season when she won two WTA titles. But 2020 was especially hard for the Ukrainian, who, in addition to an ill-advised racial equality post, split up with her coach Sascha Bajin after an early US Open exit. Excluding a promising January trip to the Adelaide final, she failed to win three consecutive matches during the season.

While she'd finished the year with a disappointing 15-12 record, she still has so much potential and there's no reason 2021 can't prove lucrative for her.

Ranking: No. 29

Skill Highlights: There is no denying Yastremska's uncanny ability to strike a clean tennis ball, but now that the tour has had time to scout and game plan for her relentless power-tennis and ultra-aggressive shot-selection, the Ukrainian needs to keep developing the rest of her game. The margins on the pro tour are far too slim to consistently win with just one dimension.

Career Highlights: Reached the Wimbledon fourth round in 2019; winner of three WTA titles (2018 Hong Kong, 2019 Hua Hin and 2019 Strasbourg).
