Baseline is looking ahead to the new year by showcasing 21 players under 21 to watch out for in '21. To make the coveted list, players must be born in 2000 or later.

Marta Kostyuk made the most of the abbreviated 2020 season. The 18-year-old from Ukraine played in only 15 tournaments this year, but she managed to reach three ITF finals and qualified for four WTA events. In just her third year competing at tour-level tournaments, she has soared into the Top 100 and obtained a new career high-ranking of world No. 97 last month.

She took the title at Cairo, Egypt's ITF event earlier this year and reached the third round of the US Open, falling to eventual champion Naomi Osaka in three sets.

What she did in 2020: She defeated former Top 10 player Daria Kasatkina and former US Open semifinalist Anastasija Sevastova to reach the third round of the US Open. She also reached the doubles quarterfinals at this year's rescheduled Roland Garros with partner Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

Skill Highlights: The Ukrainian is a power baseline player. She loves to step into the court and dictate points right out the gate, she also doesn't hesitate to take swinging volleys or her backhand down the line.

Career Highlights: Captured the 2017 junior Australian Open title along with the junior doubles US Open title in the same year. She is a former junior world No. 2 and this year she secured her first ever Top 100 finish.
