It's the end of the year and that means awards season for the men's and women's tours. While Rafael Nadal waits to see what ATP honors he's picked up in 2020, he's gathering up other awards in Spain.

Last Thursday, he was recognized with a medal for the Grand Cross of the Order of Dos de Mayo, the highest honor the Madrid region can grant.

And that same day, he was given the AS Sports Award 2020 during the Diario AS awards ceremony at the Royal Theater in Madrid.

He shares the honor with Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas. This year's ceremony was different due to COVID-19 and many safety precautions were in place.

Despite an abbreviated season, Nadal won his 20th Grand Slam at Roland Garros and finished the season with two titles and the third-highest winning percentage at 27-7.

The ATP awards are just around the corner and Nadal is nominated for the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award and will likely be up for Fan Favorite Player of the Year.
