Garbine Muguruza finally reunited with her friend and compatriot Carla Suarez Navarro. Just ahead of the US Open, Suarez Navarro revealed she had been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, and Muguruza was waiting for the right time to visit.

Suarez Navarro started treatment about a month ago and the chemotherapy is meant to last for another five months.

The former world No. 6 is still staying active, sharing photos from a stationary bike with the caption: "It is important that we remain active and optimistic. The body always appreciates it."

And she's even getting back in the gym to lift weights.

Muguruza had dedicated her first win at the US Open to the 32-year-old.

“When these things happen to these good people, I feel, like, so sad about it. So I know she was watching my match, and we talked a little bit,” Muguruza said in New York. “For sure, will dedicate this win to her, because I want her to feel that we are behind her, that I am behind her, and I will go and see her at some point when it is fine.”

The two have been friends for a long time and have even played doubles together on occasion.
