November, at least in the United States, is marked by the Thanksgiving holidays. Over in Paris at the ATP Masters 1000, Rafael Nadal was asked what he's thankful for in 2020.

"Have been a very challenging year and sad year I think for everyone, no?," he said. "A lot of people lost members of the family. Is a tough year, honestly, no?"

The world No. 2 has a way of putting things into perspective.

"I thank God people next to me still healthy," he said. "But the world is suffering, and of course the only thing that we can do is try to be responsible, as I said a lot of times, and expect a medicine to finally go over the virus, no? To win against the virus.

"Hopefully 2021 will be the year and hopefully sooner than later."

His compatriot Pablo Carreno Busta echoed his sentiments as everyone hopes the new season is more normal.

"Of course it was the most difficult year of career, for sure," he said. "Not just in tennis, also in my life, in personal life. All my family is fine, so that's something very important... It was a really good year for me on court. Well, we hope this situation will be better as soon as possible and we continue our normal life."

Nadal would beat Carreno Busta in a three-set quarterfinal on Friday.

The 2020 season has been tough but good to both Spaniards: While Nadal picked up his 20th Grand Slam at Roland Garros and has more tennis left to play at the ATP Finals, Carreno Busta appeared in his second career major semifinal in New York.
