By beating the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers became World Series champions for the first time since 1988. And in a way, it was a victory for tennis too, with Billie Jean King being a part-owner of the Dodgers since 2018.

King herself was in the stadium to celebrate the big moment, alongside partner and former Top 20 player Ilana Kloss and NBA legend Magic Johnson, who are both owners as well.

"What a gift to the resilient people of Los Angeles," King wrote on social media. "The @dodgers are World Champions!"

From being instrumental in the takeoff of women's professional tennis to her involvement in the Fed Cup–turned–Billie Jean King Cup to her impact outside of tennis, King is easily among the most influential figures in tennis history. She's also showing no sign of stepping out of the spotlight any time soon.
