Before what would end up being one of the wildest tennis seasons on record, there was some talk that Barbora Strycova—coming off a year that saw her reach her first Grand Slam singles semifinal and the top spot in the doubles rankings—might be retiring soon.

The Czech veteran has managed to navigate 2020 somewhat successfully as she and her usual partner Su-Wei Hsieh have won four titles together. This week, Strycova entered the doubles draw at her “home” event in Ostrava with former world No. 1 Bethanie Mattek-Sands. Seeded third, the duo won their opening-round match, then faced a tough pairing in Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani.

After losing the first set, Strycova and Mattek-Sands found themselves in a tiebreak, where this happened.

Though they lost the point, eventually, Strycova’s efforts didn’t go unrecognized, with Rennae Stubbs, another former top-ranked doubles player, weighing in.

Australian standout Daria Gavrilova was also thoroughly entertained.

Kristina Mladenovic, from one doubles Grand Slam champ to another, replied that this point has been playing on repeat.

Despite Strycova’s best attempts, it wasn’t enough as she and Mattek-Sands ended up losing the match in straight sets. Stefani and Dabrowski move on to the semis, while Strycova has a highlight-reel moment to look back on.
