Day 4 at the Italian Open in Rome was a busy and exciting one. Teenage sensation Coco Gauff suffered a tough loss to Garbine Mugurza while Italian hopeful Fabio Fognin and 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin were both sent packing.

Italian 18-year-old Lorenzo Musetti entered the qualifying draw of his home ATP Masters 1000 event as a wild card. Now he's into the round of 16 after taking out Kei Nishikori, 6-3, 6-4. The impressive win comes on the heels of his upset of No. 10 seed Stan Wawrinka.

Victoria Azarenka took out Kenin in a stunningly lopsided affair, 6-0, 6-0. Azarenka has now beaten two major champions in a row after ousting Venus Williams on Wednesday. She'll face Daria Kasatkina in the round of 16.

Dressed all in red, Fognini was shuffled out in his opener by Ugo Humbert. Fognini, an Italian veteran, was the No. 7 seed and came in quite rusty after  having not played in New York.

Gauff had her chances against two-time Grand Slam champion Garbine Muguruza but ultimately lost, 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-3. The teen move her focus over to Roland Garros in Paris, while Muguruza will take on Johanna Konta next.
