Player of the day: Osaka into third career major final

Naomi Osaka is accostomed to finding the lines under the Arthur Ashe Stadium lights. On Thursday, Osaka remained spotless to take down American Jennifer Brady, 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-3, and advance into her second US Open final.

Only four of the Top 10 players entered this year's US Open, but the depth of the women's field is incredible. With that being said, it can be difficult for top players to perform knowing they are the player to beat, but Osaka is thriving under the pressure in New York.

"I kind of consider New York my second home, I really love the atmosphere even though sadly there's no people here," Osaka said in her on-court interview. "I really feel like this court suits me well."

Osaka only double faulted once and cracked 35 winners during the two-hour long semifinal. Brady entered the final four executing extremely well and used her forehand and serve to control points. However, Osaka managed to match the UCLA standout's power and gave up hardly any free points to secure a Top 5 ranking on Monday.

The former No. 1 wore a Philando Castile mask as she walked on and off the court. At 22-years-old, all eyes are on her as she continues to spread awareness and use her voice to fight against social injustices.

"For me I think just knowing that I'm reaching people, I feel like in this bubble I'm not really sure what's going on in the outside world. Even a couple of days when I get the video messages, it was really touching. Me and everyone I knew, cried," said Osaka of receiving messages from Ahmaud Arbery's father and others.
