Madison Brengle shut out No. 19 seed Dayana Yastremska, 6-2, 6-3 on Thursday night and celebrated with a big slug of red wine just moments after.

Good friend Arina Rodionova was the player who had the mini-bottle of wine at the ready in the stands. The duo spent the 24-hour isolation period together at the start of their New York trip, and Brengle embraced that time for more wine while sporting an interesting mask.

As fate would have it, the world No. 84 would face Rodionova in the first round after the Aussie got in at the last second as a doubles alternate when Lesia Tsurenko withdrew.

Brengle would win routinely, 6-2, 6-2, but their friendship is clearly intact as hitting and drinking partners.

Overall, the 30-year-old seems to have a very nonchalant attitude about the US Open this year as she laid out her plan for her day off on Thursday before she'll face Shelby Rogers in the third round.

"I'll do what I did yesterday. I hit with Arina for like 35 minutes gently, no more than that," she said. "Plenty of effort."
