It was a day full of upsets in Flushing Meadows, but perhaps the biggest shock was world No. 3 Dominic Thiem's shocking exit at the hands of Filip Krajinovic. In their first meeting, the Serbian suffocated Thiem and didn't give any free points away, which resulted in a quick 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Meanwhile, Naomi Osaka escaped the upset trend by finding a way to win her three-set clash against Karolina Muchova. The 2-time Grand Slam champion will next face Dayana Yastremska.
