They play doubles together, even though that’s not totally their thing. Whenever they’re at the same tournament, you can be sure that they’re going to be practicing together and hanging out. In other words, Dominic Thiem and Diego Schwartzman are pretty good buddies.

And as Thiem showed on Thursday in Arthur Ashe Stadium, he’s willing to go to great lengths for his friend.

Talk about a cross-court drill.

Former US Open champ Sloane Stephens could hardly believe what she witnessed, saying “This was unreal!!!!” in a comment on Thiem’s post. And she’s not wrong, either. It’s one thing to hit a ball toward the upper levels from the court—with no idea of where it’s going to land—but to take aim and go suite to suite across the width of the stadium is another matter entirely.

The bar has now been set for amazing tricks to come out of the bubble. Though Alexander Zverev did a pretty great job of catching a Novak Djokovic slap.

At the Western & Southern Open, Thiem is the No. 2 seed, while Schwartzman is seeded No. 9. They’re both in the bottom half of the draw, but the earliest they could face each other would be in the semifinals. Even if they don’t play each other during the tournament, though, you can be sure they’ll get in a hit or two.

Maybe they’ll even come up with some more trick shots to pass the time.
