Tennis world reacts to Sam Stosur's baby joy

Samantha Stosur and her partner Liz Astling announced the arrival of their daughter, already dubbed Evie for short. The baby girl was born on June 16.

"Mum and Evie are doing well and it’s so amazing to be home with them both," Stosur posited on Instagram. "We are absolutely in love with this little bundle and rolling with the happy chaos."

That's well put. And Aussies aplenty chimed in on social to wish the young family well.

"Can't wait to meet you, Evie," said Casey Dellacqua, Stosur's fellow Grand Slam champ and fellow mom. "Major congrats!" offered the Australian Open event. All that Stosur's active-pro compatriot Priscilla Hon had was a simple, affectionate "Nawww."

Other greetings rolled in from WTA peers including Caroline Dolehide, Olivia Rogowska, and more. The same came from ATP star Andy Murray, Stosur's countryman Matt Ebden, super-coach Roger Rasheed, and sponsors such as Asics.

Perhaps retired star and current commentator Pam Shriver put it best, given these pandemic times. Despite the world's tests and travails these days, baby joy certainly brings humanity together.
