On Monday, Andrea Petkovic fired back at an Instagram user who criticized her loss against Petra Kvitova at the Bett1 ACES event in Berlin. Although, the world No. 87 had a slight edge in their head-to-head record, she fell in straight sets to the former Wimbledon champion, bringing them to an even 6-6.

Petkovic was quick to remind her insulter of how much she is juggling outside of tennis, and that she is indeed awesome.

She also gave a little nod to her Czech opponent, challenging the Instagram user to “try returning Petra's leftie serve on the AD side on grass and then get back to me.”

The former world No. 9 is just returning to court and trying to find her form again after coming off her knee surgery in February, which only scratches the surface of the injuries she’s suffered since 2012. The German planned on hanging up her racquet in 2020, but has pushed back her retirement due to the on-going pandemic sweeping most of this season’s tournaments.

Petkovic also made it clear that this is not the first time she’s dealt with rude and unwanted criticism on social media.

“Oh and btw, I got used to these things years back and do not care whatsoever," Petkovic wrote on Twitter. "I had ten of these today after an exho. But the career thing was funny to me - wrong person, buddy, wrong person.”

Judging by her playful tone and emojis, Petkovic was able to brush the unkind words away and can now focus on the more positive aspects of her life — her tennis career, online book club, and autobiography, which is set to be unveiled in October.
