ESPN and tennis marked the 48th anniversary of Title IX's passage with a fuzzy-ball–strewn fete on TV. Title IX ushered in equality measures for girls and young women to compete in sports at the high-school and collegiate levels.

Among the highlights offered: the most recent Grand Slam final played out between superstar sisters Serena and Venus Williams, at the 2017 Australian Open; Serena's 2012 US Open championship over Victoria Azarenka; and Bianca Andreescu's unexpected US Open triumph, which occurred 10 short months ago at Serena's loss, in times that seemed significantly simpler.

On June 22, ESPN also presented its docufilm *Coco Gauff: The Lines Are the Same*, in which teen phenom Gauff and sportscaster Chris Fowler revisited the 16-year-old's insta-vintage victory at Wimbledon 2019 over Venus Williams, a five-time singles winner at SW19.

That match took place all of 12 months ago, with Gauff also getting the better of the elder Williams sister at the most recent Grand Slam event, the Aussie Open in January this year.

The three-day effort ran June 21-23 as part of the ESPNW Presents: When We Play initiative. Featured women's sports included tennis, UFC, basketball, soccer and more.
