It's definitely a switch-up for the Spaniard, who is used to competing in quarterfinal and semifinal rounds at Roland Garros on his birthday.

At the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, he was all smiles as the children, staff and team surprised him with a cake.

The world No. 3 was welcomed by students spread out all across the stadium singing happy birthday.

"I'm starting to get very old, but here we are," Nadal said.

Nadal is proving that 34 is the new 19, as he continues to storm through draws and inch closer to Roger Federer's record of 20 Grand Slam titles. Last season, he managed to win two majors to put him just one away from tying the Swiss.

He was also off to another roaring start in 2020, as he led Spain to the inaugural ATP Cup final and won Acapulco before the season was halted due to COVID-19.

Since the cancellation of Indian Wells, Nadal was spending lots of time at home with his wife Xisca Perello and family. The stay-at-home restrictions are being eased in Spain and just two weeks ago, Nadal got back on the court for the first time since March.

With tennis kicking up again, the world could soon see Nadal back in action. But for now, he celebrates his tremendous accomplishments one bite of cake at a time.
