Thirteen years ago, Denis Shapovalov carried a racquet that was almost bigger than him. The Canadian showed that size doesn't matter, but hard work and dedication does.

On Shapovalov's Youtube Channel, fans can find a throwback video of the Top-20 player finishing points at the net and crushing inside-out forehands at just eight years old. And yes, he had a one-handed backhand already at that tender age.

The world No. 16 celebrated his 21st birthday on Wednesday, prompting the clip to resurface online. Although the young star wasn't able to celebrate properly with friends, Shapovalov was feeling so much love from around the globe.

"In a time like this when it's difficult, we can't go out and celebrate properly, but I do have my Steve will do it shirt on and you know we're going to send it," Shapovalov said.

Shapovalov captured his first title last year in Stockholm by defeating Filip Krajinovic in the final. Earlier this year, he also found himself sitting at a career-high ranking of world No. 13. The season might be at a halt, but for the 21-year-old, there's much to celebrate.
