Taylor Fritz climbed up to a career-high ranking of No. 24 before coronavirus concerns shut down six weeks of tennis. Like many players, the 22-year-old is left in shock.

"You never get really time off playing tennis, so you’re not used to having just six weeks to do whatever," he said. "It’s kind of a shock."

Fritz was building some great momentum over these past few weeks after a final run in Acapulco and a Davis Cup singles win in Honolulu.

In Indian Wells, ATP players met and discussed options, with the idea of playing without fans tossed around.

“Even with no fans it’s only a matter of time before a player gets it,” Fritz said. “We’re healthy so we probably wouldn’t be impacted too much, but it’s about who we can pass it to.”

Now he’ll take some time off, and ramp up training efforts in hopes of the tour starting up again at the end of April. And play video games, as Paul Annacone pointed out.

Munich and Estoril, which began the week of April 27, are still on the schedule. The ITF called off all tournaments through April 20, while the WTA has cancelled Charleston.
