"The future is exciting because you never know what's going to happen," Naomi Osaka said, in a recent Nike collaboration. The two-time Grand Slam champoin sat down to write a letter to her future self and the messages within it were genuine and inspiring.

In 2018, Osaka walked into Indian Wells unnoticed, with a world No. 44 ranking by her name. She would shock the world by storming through the draw to capture her first title. Later that year, she would defeat her idol Serena Williams in the US Open final for her first major.

"I used to be scared of the future because not knowing is scary, but I realize you have to embrace the unknown and you can only control what is happening now," she writes.

While adjusting to the limelight and dealing with new pressures, Osaka is focused on putting full effort and thought into all the things she loves most. She has won five WTA titles and is currently ranked No. 10, but the 22-year-old Japanese star is not concerned about these statistics.

"I hope the future me has helped as many people as she could and made a positive impact in their lives," she said. "Funny enough when I first started writing this I thought my brain was immediately going to write about future tennis goals, but I realize it's much bigger than that."

In 2020 and beyond, Osaka will be impacting the world in a positive way and embracing life, one dance video at a time.

Osaka also asked her fans to share their letters: "Have you guys ever written a future letter before? Would love to know what yours is about."

She was preparing for Indian Wells, but due to a local coronavirus case, the tournament has been called off.
