Team USA clowns around ahead of Davis Cup tie

When three of your team members are also best friends, you don’t have to worry about keeping things loose before a big match. Judging by the USTA’s twitter account, Team USA is having a blast in Honolulu ahead of their Davis Cup qualifying tie with Uzbekistan.

Captain Mardy Fish has joined in on the fun, but when it was time to take his “butts up” from Reilly Opelka, he ran for cover. Showing much more toughness than his captain, Tommy Paul stayed in the trenches.

For those that don’t follow Opelka on social media, he is first and foremost, a prankster. Possibly the funniest player in the Top 100, Opelka always tries to find the humor in every situation.

Here he is imitating what appears to be Frances Tiafoe’s serve.

Come match time, though, you can be sure the jokes will stop, as Bob and Mike Bryan didn’t come to Hawaii to joke around. Opelka will kick things off against Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin, with Paul lined up to face Sanjar Fayziev.
