Djokovic won his 17th Grand Slam title, and eighth in Melbourne, but it wasn't without drama. The world No. 2 needed five sets to top Dominic Thiem, 6-4, 4-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Annoyed by a second time violation, Djokovic told chair umpire, "You made yourself famous. Well done," after he tapped him on the foot as he changed sides. The violations came at 4-4 in the second set, and Djokovic would lose his serve. He could get fined up to $20,000 for the offense.

Dominic Thiem has now lost three of three Grand Slam finals, two to Rafael Nadal and one to Djokovic. The good news is that he had a great fortnight and at least his mother now doesn't have to get a kangaroo tattoo.
