Team Williams, which included Serena, Nadal, Djokovic, Petra Kvitova and Dominic Thiem, won the doubles set in a tiebreak, defeating Team Wozniacki's Gauff, Osaka, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Also in a breaker, Federer beat Kyrgios, 7-6 (6).

"This was definitely an incredible kickoff," Federer said. "We hope to not do this every year, but if we have to, the players will be here."
