Simona Halep made her first on-court 2020 appearance on the doubles court, partnering with fellow Romanian Raluca Olaru. The two fell short against the No. 2 seeds Kveta Peschke and Demi Schuurs 6-7 (2), 6-4, 3-10 in Adelaide. Halep will make her singles debut against Ajla Tomljanovic on Tuesday.
Ashleigh Barty traded her racquets for professional golfer Minjee Lee's golf clubs. The two posed for photos alongside River Torrens in Adelaide. Barty will take on Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in her opening round.
