Battling gusty winds in Auckland, Serena Williams had trouble with her ball toss. But it didn't stop her from getting the job done over Laura Siegemund, 6-4, 6-3, to reach the semifinals. Serena and Caroline Wozniacki moved into the doubles final without the loss of a set.

With an overly-excited crowd cheering his name in Sydney, Novak Djokovic credited the electric atmosphere for his third-set tiebreak victory over Canada's Denis Shapovalov. Team Serbia will face Russia for a spot in the inaugural ATP Cup's final.

In Brisbane, Naomi Osaka took out No. 6 seed Kiki Bertens 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, to set up a semifinals clash against defending champion Karolina Pliskova. Osaka seems to be carrying momentum from her strong 2019 finish into the 2020 season.

David Goffin put on a show for the Sydney crowd on Friday in Sydney. The Belgian upset world No. 1 Rafael Nadal in straight sets to get Team Belgium on the board and force a doubles decider.

The doubles match between Nadal and Pablo Carreno Busta and Sander Gille and Joran Viegen went all the way to the deciding super-tiebreaker. Once there, Spain prevailed, 6-7 (7), 7-5, 10-7.
