Martina Navratilova shares her keys to successfully coming in behind your serve. The serve-and-volley tactic may be rare these days, but that just means when you master it, you'll really surprise your opponent.

"If you serve and stay back on every point your opponent can just float the return back anywhere on the court and get away with it," Navratilova says. "So I you serve and volley, those floaty returns, now you can control the point with an aggressive volley."

  • Serve Consistency and Good Placement

  • Explode with Control

  • Split-step

  • First Volley Placement
