As we trade in a well-worn decade for a shiny new one, it's time to put ourselves to the test.

Namely, a New York Times quiz beckons, with the opportunity to identify dozens of public figures across the realms of U.S. and international government, celebrity, sport, and social media influence.

Squarely in the mix is one Serena Williams. At press time, she was locked in as the No. 14 most recognizable public figure of 52 overall.

From Barack Obama to PewDiePie, Selena Gomez to Xi Jinping, the quiz offers a wide swath of recognizability tests.

Serena herself was found recognizable by 38% of Generation Z quiz takers, identified as those ages 13 to 22,. That finds her three spots behind her pal Beyonce, and bookended by Vladimir Putin and Tom Brady. Among athletes, LeBron James leads in the Gen Z space at 57%. Brady (32%), Cristiano Ronaldo (29%), Lionel Messi (23%), and Megan Rapinoe (3%) trail him and Serena.

Even so, Serena bests LeBron among millennials, ages 23 to 38 (64% to 61%), Gen X members, ages 39 to 54 (65% to 57%), and Boomers, ages 55 to 73 (59% to 41%). Notably, these data points solely those who have taken this particular quiz, but it makes for a fascinating presentation all the same.

This begs a question, so here's your answer: The most recognizable Top 5 most recognizable are, in order, Obama, Donald Trump, Dwayne Johnson (a.k.a. The Rock, from his erstwhile WWF career), Hillary Clinton, and Justin Bieber. As for those who appear at the bottom among these 52 notables, well, check yourself to see if you know them.
