The new year is almost upon us, and there's a crop of young players ready to make even bigger marks on the world in 2020. Let's count down the Top 10 ATP and WTA youth to watch:

Coco Gauff

Age: 15

Ranking: No. 68

The players who defined women's tennis in 2019—Simona Halep, Bianca Andreescu, etc.—were the ones who saw the challenges in front of them and faced them head-on without hesitation.

Cori "Coco" Gauff figured out how to do that early, very early. At age 15, in her first match in the main draw of Wimbledon, she snatched a straight-sets win from recent finalist Venus Williams, propelling herself to stardom, and to two more victories there: six in a row, counting qualifying.

Gauff went 10-4 on the women's tour for the remainder of the season, taking her first WTA singles title, and two in doubles for good measure. Her only main-draw Slam losses came to established stars, Halep and Naomi Osaka.

Though she's now already one of the most famous tennis players on the planet, her schedule will still be under age-eligibility restrictions for a good while. That said, her ranking's shot up this year from No. 686 to No. 68, so she's all set for the Australian Open.

Come Melbourne, all eyes will be on the teen phenom, eager to see whether she'll seize the moment again.
