Michael Mmoh, an American born in Riyadh, got to take part in a bonus match against Saudi Arabia's  Ammar Al-Haqbani.

Goffin beat Pouille but then lost to Medvedev, the eventual champion.

"It was a great tournament, with great opponents and a great atmosphere," Goffin said. "Medvedev played very well. He is very strong at the moment on hard surfaces and he is very difficult to maneuver".

Medvedev won the first Diriyah Tennis Cup over Fabio Fognini, winning $1 million and helping promote tennis in Saudi Arabia. Isner won the consolation event.
