"Unbelievable day. Thanks again for letting me share this moment with you...." commented Julia Goerges.

Some other players to wish the couple well included Elise Mertens, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Kristina Mladenovic.

"I simply can't dance, so an opening dance at our wedding is a no-go," Bertens once said in an interview with GUTS & GUSTO. "I found my wedding dress about a week after we got engaged."

Bertens won two big titles in 2019, at the Premier-level St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy and the Premier Mandatory Madrid Open. The tennis-data site Tennis Abstract rates the former No. 4 as the second-best player on clay, behind only Simona Halep.
