Ons Jabeur was honored with the Arab Woman of the Year award earlier this week. The Tunisian became the first Arab woman to reach the third round of a Grand Slam in 2017, and repeated the feat at the US Open this season.

The ceremony was held in London.

"These awards were created in 2014 as a platform for us to show our deepest appreciations for Arab women who have done so much as leaders, role models and inspirations,” said CEO of London Arabia, Omar Bdour. “The Arab Women of the Year awards have been a shining example of how our communities can come together, despite our differences, and recognize the laudable feats of Arab women.”

This season she reached the semifinals in Tianjin and Eastbourne.  Jabeur's career-high ranking of No 51, which she achieved in September, is the highest-ever for an Arab player, male or female.
