In a lot of ways, the jury is still out on what will be made of the new Davis Cup format, but there's no denying that the 2019 event ended with a bang.

This year marked the first edition of the Davis Cup Finals, the one-week, one-city tournament to conclude the Davis Cup, which famously doesn't feature home-and-away ties.

But the home team won anyway, with host nation Spain defeating Canada, 2-0, in Madrid on Sunday to take its sixth Davis Cup title.

It was a storybook ending for the Spanish team, with Roberto Bautista Agut, who attended his father's funeral the day before the final, scoring the first win, and reigning No. 1 Rafael Nadal sealing the championship versus Denis Shapovalov.
