Rafael Nadal's honeymoon might have been short-lived after his October 19 wedding, but he wasn't having it with a question about a supposed post-wedding slump in terms of on-court results.

The question came from reporter Ubaldo Scanagatta, previously infamous in 2019 for falling asleep during one of Nadal's Australian Open press conferences. That was the rare occurrence when a player could turn tables on a reporter and ask about his own slumping. This one, in London, bookended their year of memorable press conferences together, also serving as the instance in which both parties were conscious for the duration of it.

Here's the exchange, as seen in the presser video, in which Nadal ultimately terms the question "bulls*":

Scanagatta: Tonight you were playing very short many times. I don't know why, because you're not used to that. I'd like to know, for many people to get married is a very important distracted thing before the marriage, during the marriage, after the marriage. I'd like to know if somehow your concentration on tennis life has been a bit different even if you were going out with the same girl for many, many years.

*Nadal: Honestly, are you asking me this? Is a serious question or is a joke? Is it serious?

Q. It's serious. (Off microphone.) Is not something that...

RAFAEL NADAL: Okay. I surprise, is a big surprise for me you ask me this after I have been with the same girl for 15 years and having a very stable and normal life. Doesn't matter if you put a ring on your finger or not. In my personal way, I am a very normal guy. Maybe for you was—how many years you have been with your ...

Q. Wife, 30 years this year.

Nadal: And before? Ah, maybe before you were not sure. That's why. (smiling) Okay. Okay. We move to Spanish, because that's bulls. Thank you very much.

Nadal faced Danii Medvedev on Wednesday in a rematch of their nearly-five-hour US Open showdown in September, which Nadal won. He saved a match point in a clutch comeback win, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 7-6 (4).
