Italian teen Jannik Sinner won the Next Gen ATP Finals on Sunday by upsetting top seed Alex de Minaur in straight sets, 4-2, 4-1, 4-2. Though earning no ranking points, it was a huge payday for Sinner—almost $375,000 more money than his entire career earnings.

It's been a breakthrough season for Sinner, and winning the year-end title was just the cherry on the cake. After opening the year at No. 551, the 18-year-old is now the youngest player inside the Top 100, currently sitting at No. 95.

He has won two ITF 25Ks and two ATP Challengers this year, and also picked up his first ATP Masters 1000 win in Rome, and reached the Antwerp semifinals. Now he ends the year as the ATP's top young prospect, with three more years left of Next Gen eligibility. It also didn't hurt that the tournament took place in his home country, with the crowd packing the stands just to watch his practice.

Sinner finished off the match in under an hour, giving De Minaur his second successive runner-up finish at the year-end tournament.
