Though Bianca Andreescu is still be a teenager herself, she's already inspiring the next generation. The 19-year-old surprised a trio of future stars in Shenzhen, much to their giddy delight.

Moments before the US Open champion walked into the room, Clervie Ngounoue named her as one of her idols. The 13-year-old American beat Canadian Kayla Cross in the Under-14 WTA Future Stars final, with their match taking place on the same center court Andreescu would play on.

Andreescu wasn't the only one doing the surprising. Her childhood coach Lan Yao-Gallop entered the room for a reunion (Yao-Gallop coaches the two Canadians, Cross and Annabelle Xu).

"So it was a surprise on top of a surprise. I was genuinely stunned," Andreescu said. "I know that she's still part of Tennis Canada, but I think she works in Alberta. I haven't seen her in maybe 4 or 5 years. So having that is pretty incredible."

Andreescu would come within one point of scoring her first WTA Finals win, over Simona Halep on Monday, and even successfully pulled off a tweener.

But she ultimately lost, 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3.

Despite some pain in her back, she seems poised to keep fighting, and will take on Karolina Pliskova on Wednesday.
