Abu Dhabi's Mubadala World Tennis event is nearing and some exciting news has been announced. Six men will compete for the title and two top names are already set to appear.

Four-time Mubadala champion Rafael Nadal has confirmed he will be making his 10th showing at the hard-court event. The 19-time Grand Slam champion last played the event three years ago, when he defeated David Goffin in the final.

Joining Nadal will be US Open finalist Daniil Medvedev. The Russian emerged as a top threat in the latter half of 2019. The 23-year-old defeated world No. 1 Novak Djokovic on his way to winning the title in Cincinnati, then made his way into his first major final in New York.

The world No. 4 wasn't finished yet: he ran through the St. Petersburg field to win the title on his home turf and just last week dismissed Alexander Zverev in the Shanghai final to claim his fourth title of the season.

The two might see a re-match of their five-set US Open clash in Abu Dhabi. However, there are still four spots open for the world's top men.

The end-of-year event also hosts one women's match, with five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova will face 18-year-old Amanda Anisimova.

The teenager had an inspiring French Open run, defeating Simona Halep to become the youngest American to reach the women’s French Open semifinals since 1990. The youth vs. experience matchup will mark the first time they have played against each other.

Last year the Williams' sisters took the court against each other in front of the Abu Dhabi crowd, with Venus pulling out a two-set victory over sister Serena.

The Abu Dhabi exhibition will also have an array of interactive competitions, Q&A sessions and player signings. The three-day event begins on December 19.
