Dominic Thiem added his fourth title the season by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the China Open final. It was a slow start for the Austrian, losing the first set, but he bounced back and earned his 15th overall crown, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

So far this season, Thiem has scored wins over both Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, and won titles in Indian Wells, Barcelona, Kitzbuhel, and, now, Beijing. Thiem defeated top players along the way, including Andy Murray, Karen Khachanov and Richard Gasquet.

Despite leaving the US Open early, the world No. 5 showed that he can never be counted out. The top seed called the match against Tsitsipas, "one of the best of my career."
