On Thursday, Martina Navratilova attended the premier of Netflix's new series The Politician. She wasn't just a guest on the red carpet, alongside her wife Julia Lemingova: The 62-year-old has a credited recurring role.
Navratilova plays the role of Brigitte, and makes a brief cameo at 2:16 in the official trailer.
The show, which is billed as a comedy, premiered on Friday and stars Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton and many, many more.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the premise of the show is "the politician aspirations of Platt’s Payton Hobart, a wealthy Santa Barbarian," and "every season will revolve around a different political race his character is involved in."
A TIME feature on Ryan Murphy, one of the show's creators, reveals that Navratilova plays a horse trainer that has an affair with Paltrow, who plays the mother of the lead Payton Hobar (played by Platt). She first appears in Episode 2, and while there are a few tennis scenes, Navratilova isn't in them.
Navratilova has acted before, playing herself on a 2000 episode of Will & Grace and a 2013 episode of Portlandia, as well as playing a minor role in the 2017 Chinese action film The Adventurers.
