While Serena Williams may not celebrate birthdays (she's a Jehovah's Witness), the rest of the world is happy to take note of her turning 38 on Thursday.

The day took some back in time to 2010 when a 28-year-old Serena uttered these words in press after winning her fourth Wimbledon title.

Q. Is there a chance you'll still be playing at 38, do you think?

"38?... If I am, I want you to personally take me off and escort me off the court. There's no way I need to be out here at 38."

And yet, she most certainly is still playing.

At 38, Serena has shown no sign of stopping her pursuit for Grand Slam No. 24. She's been so close four times, most recently losing in the US Open final to Bianca Andreescu.
