The beauty of the Laver Cup as an entertainment product is that, with its match tiebreaks and escalating-points structure, every moment feels meaningful and competitive. No player or team ever feels out until the match is over. This is especially true when reliable servers like Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios and John Isner are playing.

The first two matches on Saturday both went to super tiebreaks: Isner bested Alexander Zverev, and Federer came back from a set down to beat Kyrgios. And everyone involved—on the court, in the stands and on the bench—was very much enjoying the ride.

Here are the best moments from Saturday's day session:

1

Slick Nick

Isner had to fight for every inch in his 6-7 (2), 6-4, 10-1 defeat of Zverev, and, in the business end of the first set, he demonstrated deft play from every corner of the court—this point ended with a slap-smash winner, and with Kyrgios doing some kind of slip-and-slide Superman thing:

Coach Rafael Nadal

Ivan Ljubicic might be worried for his job after this one. Federer and Nadal made a legendary combined coaching effort for Fabio Fognini on Friday, but this time, it was the Swiss who needed the help.

When Federer was down a set and 4-5 to Kyrgios, dangerously close to losing, there was only one man right to step up:

Nadal did it again at 5-6:

Federer would go on to win every game for the rest of the match, including the match tiebreak to seal the 6-7 (5), 7-5, 10-7 victory.

And, of course, there were lots of reaction GIFs:

Team Europe now leads, 5-3, with four points up for grabs on Saturday night. Nadal is playing Milos Raonic in singles first. He'll then team up with Stefanos Tsitsipas to take on Kyrgios and Jack Sock.
