NEW YORK—Bianca Andreescu just keeps rolling: the Canadian boosted her 2019 record to 41-4 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Caroline Wozniacki.

The 19-year-old burst onto the scene by winning Indian Wells earlier this year, but her coach Silvain Brunaeu saw the world No. 15's breakthrough coming a lot earlier than anyone.

"A lot of good things started to happen. She went into playing some small tournaments; she won 18 out of the 21 matches she played," Bruneau said. "Her confidence just started growing and growing."

Her 2018 fall hot streak began in October, just after she lost in the first round of qualifying at the US Open. The second the 2019 season started, her star began to catapult. She reached the final in Auckland, won the WTA 125K Series in Newport, then won Indian Wells. After a shoulder injury hiatus, she picked up the title in Toronto.

Now she's into the fourth round of the US Open—without the loss of a set—and will take on qualifier Taylor Townsend on Sunday. It's both players first career appearances in Week 2 of a Grand Slam. Andreescu didn't even realize she'll be in the Top 10 when the new rankings come out.

"You're kidding me. Really?" she said. "No, I don't usually check these things. I like to just focus on my game, but that's—wow. That's all I can say right now. Am I getting red? A little bit?"
