Eugenie Bouchard caused a bit of a social media riot after a seemingly innocent Instagram post. It wasn't the photo itself, it was her caption that caught people's attention.

The 25-year-old stated, “Why do my arms stay mad skinny but my stomach gets so fat??” After just moments, the comments started pouring in.

Many people are upset that 2014 Wimbledon finalist is sending the wrong message to young girls struggling with body image issues, while others reassured her that she looked great, and some claimed that Bouchard was purely seeking attention.

Even though the 25-year-old's post caused backlash and criticism, some followers chose to support Bouchard.

“All looks pretty perfect to me,” and, “So many blatant arrogant bullies commenting on this. Genie you look amazing and if you don’t think so, that’s okay. Many young women struggle with body image. Keep doing you girl.”

While most of her Instagram posts get comments in the hundreds, her Monday photo has over 2,000.

The Canadian clearly meant no harm and was simply trying to have a little fun.

"I'm poking fun at myself bruhhh you should try it, it's fun," she replied to a follower. "Not take life too seriously, and laugh with other people. Also I'm genuinely wondering why this happens."

It's been a rough 2019 for Bouchard, on court and online, as this is the second time in the past week she's caught the world's attention with her social media posts. Last Sunday, Bouchard was criticized online after tweeting about Bianca Andreescu's Toronto win.
