In Cincinnati first-round doubles action on Tuesday, Bethanie Mattek-Sands brought the crowd to its feet. On match point, the former doubles No. 1 tracked down a short-angled shot to go around the post, before crashing into the sideline boards.

The epic finish by Mattek-Sands and partner Coco Vandeweghe clinched a 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 victory over Latisha Chan and Hao-Ching Chan.

The 2016 Indian Wells champions kept the fun going in their second-round match against Monique Adamczak and Kaitlyn Christian, rolling to a a 6-2, 6-3 victory to advance to the quarterfinals.

After smashing a down-the-tee serve to win the match, Vandeweghe carried parter Mattek-Sands to the net where they shook their opponents hands. It appears to be a new tradition for the duo.

The Americans will face Alize Cornet and Kristina Mladenovic for a ticket into the semifinals.
