Alexander Zverev’s family continues to grow in the canine department. In March, during a visit to the Humane Society of Miami, Zverev fell in love with a two-month-old terrier mix named Pop.

“He chose me actually,” Zverev said. "He seems quite happy and I’m very happy to take him home.”

His first dog, a beloved toy poodle Lovik, who he credits for keeping him grounded, also just had three new puppies.

"Lovik just became a dad a few days ago," Zverev said.

Perhaps all this puppy love can propel Zverev to his first career victory in Cincinnati. “I’ve never won a match here so far, so I hope this will change and I can get a breakthrough.”

Zverev will face off against the promising young Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic in his opening round on Wednesday.
