To quote the great Yogi Berra, “It ain’t over till it’s over.” During a crazy cat & mouse point, Frances Tiafoe thought surely he had won, until he hadn’t.

The Washington crowd tried desperately to warn their hometown favorite, but it was too late. A blazing-fast Daniil Medvedev tracked the ball down and scooped it to the other side, unbeknownst to Tiafoe.

Medvedev would win the encounter 6-2, 7-5 to reach the Citi Open quarterfinals. Tiafoe, meanwhile, is dealing with an injury in the midst of a heavy hard-court swing.

"Unfortunately, the minor foot injury that I suffered Tuesday night was aggravated during my match tonight," Tiafoe said in a statement. "Based on doctors' recommendation, I've made a decision to rest for several days. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to play the [Roger's Cup].

Medvedev will take on Marin Cilic on Friday.
